GENERAL INFORMATION
Sheathed element air heaters, provide a safe means of heat transfer using electricity, touching the elements will not produce electric shock. They have relatively low surface temperature (below 400 deg. C)
MOUNTING
The heater can be mounted with airflow in either direction with safety cut-outs at the top of unit.
AIRFLOW
The airflow may be horizontal or vertical and the terminal box may be on the side or top of duct.
Care must be taken to ensure the thermal cut out is near the top of the duct.
The air should be evenly distributed across the duct and the velocity should be above 2.5 m/s. If necessary, the duct should be reduced to increase velocity adjacent to heater.
Position the heater away from materials which may be damaged by heat.
CONTROL SYSTEM
A suitable control scheme should be provided and should include a timer to keep the fan running for 2 minutes after the heater has been shut-off.
Standard heaters are suitable for 1 phase or 3 phase step control, with neutral connection. Delta connection (thyristor control) must be stated a time of ordering.
THERMAL CUTOUT
Every heater is provided with two thermal cut outs.
1. Automatic cuts out at 80 deg. C
2. Manual cuts out at 100 deg. C
Both cut outs must be connected in series with the operating coil of a controlling contactor which will switch off the heater when the current trips.
